So it's hard to fit into todays genres, I have had Radio play in the states on Adult Contemporary, and Hot AC, yet in Canada no one from those stations will even speak to me, thanks Canada gosh I love how you support your own. Anyway not to get off topic here but I'm still trying to figure out how to get the right people to hear my music on a small budget, and I mean small, I was paying $500 a week to a radio promoter in the states and I was getting spins and new stations coming on every week, but how long can that go on without financial backing? I mean after I spent $30,000 on the recording and then another $10,000 promoting I still haven't had a single down load on iTunes. Now I've sold CD's at my shows of course and I've had the Canadian Music Association critique my songs and they rate high, I've charted on the indy charts in the top ten and still no sales. So I trudge on, that's fine but I'm hoping that this blog will not only help me get more people aware of my music, but also I would like to gain some valuable ideas on what to do next, and maybe help others as well. I may be dillusional but I really want to write and perform punctuated for performance, swing and jazz tunes that have great string and horn arrangments, that's why I hired Nashville's Chris McDonald and had the best studio jazz rythmn section, and the best horn and string players as well as Wynonna Judd's back up singer and Peter Cetarra's back up singer . I mean I want to make music with real instruments, and then I want to perform these songs live in an energized way like Elvis did, like James Brown performed, now I'm not saying I'll be swiveling across the stage like the King! it will be all Robert Larrabee, but after performing in front of people for over twenty years at the cottage industry level, I know how to get the attention that the music deserves! but it sure is hard to do when I can't get anyone in the business to talk to me. So it becomes the rule of supply and demand, I must create the demand, the sizzle, the buzz, that will get the attention of the labels, managers and promoters so here I am spending every day in my home office blogging, promoting on you tube, creating videos in my green screen studio, promoting on Myspace, and facebook and not writing any songs lol. That's the real draw back for me , I'm the manager at this point, I'm the promoter, and there is no time to be the creative songwriter. So no worries, I have a cd and that's the product, I just have to stay focused on promoting it and one day when it goes somewhere and I sell enough cd's I can record another one. Wow I have no problems that a million Dollars wouldn't help, you thought I was going to say solve? no help, then I could hire the publisist needed to do what I'm doing now and I could get back to putting the show together, hiring the band, choreographing the show, oh wait I would actually hire someone for that as well lol and I would over see things. I'll tell you one thing this fire in my belly never goes away, I think about music everyday I go to bed at night thinking about the show that will end all shows, and I will work everyday until it happens because I can't do anything else, I've tried but I can't, so I push on one day at a time. I'm looking for that audience, the audience that wants to hear my style of music. I have found them locally now I need to find them internationally my music is about love, romance, and joy because that's what's in my heart, and joy is the feeling I get from performing and feeling the audience energy and love coming back to me. I'll keep sending out the love unitl it finds love and returns to me.<br /><br />Respectfully: Robert Larrabee<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7587095697176892027-7568005756992882650?l=originalpopjazzmusic.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>

Convict an anodyne with passion

Dose anyone no what this means Convict as anodyne with passion? hmmmmmmmmmm<div class="blogger-post-footer"><img width='1' height='1' src='https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/tracker/7587095697176892027-464848995247078482?l=originalpopjazzmusic.blogspot.com' alt='' /></div>
